I have just worked myself into a frenzy. Ana, who should NOT be pregnant has been looking a little plump. At first I was pleased she had put on weight as she had become very thin after her last litter of kittens. Then her tummy went a bit beyond plump, a little bloated looking. She had not been calling so I convinced myself she was having a phantom pregnancy and all was well. This morning the thought of a closed pyometra (womb infection) popped into my head. Ana had a loose stool ( I had just wormed her) and that was it, frenzy confirmed. I had almost lost a cat previously to Pyometra so I didn't need much encouragement before my neurosis kicked in.I phoned the vet who saw me immediately as he had looked after and saved my previous cat. Ana was inspected and had an ultra-sound scan. No pyometra and the vet gave lots of reassurance that Ana was well.
I don't know if it's a vet I should be paying for or a councilor either way my visit to the vet did the trick...all calm now!
